sex-positive, queer & trans-affirming counseling services
Well, 2025 is getting off to a scary start for many of us. You might have some New Year's goals around self-care, stress management, or even specifically to start therapy. Maybe you've never tried therapy or maybe you've never clicked with a therapist in the way that other people have described. Investing in therapy is a big decision. It is worth researching potential therapists to find someone who will best fit your needs. Please use this site to learn more about my background, the clients I serve, and my areas of expertise. You've made it to this website for a reason, and I'm here to validate and support you.
In my practice I use a decolonial, intersectional feminist approach for treatment. This is often a very different experience than traditional talk therapy grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Theory which emphasizes cognitive distortions and "thinking our way into feeling better." According to Dr. Laura S. Brown, Decolonial, Intersectional Feminist therapy, "not only listens to, but privileges, the voices and experiences of those who have been defined as 'other' by dominant cultures." Therefore, in working with me, we openly discuss social identities, intergenerational trauma, social media, capitalism, and the patriarchy. During treatment, clients often supplement talk therapy with bibliotherapy, narrative therapy, and referrals to local healthcare specialists for a more holistic approach to wellness.
Healthcare professionals such as psychologists, counselors, social workers and students may also need support navigating sexual health best practices, particularly during this tumultuous political climate. In addition to providing individual and couples therapy, I am also a resource for professional consultation services and group presentations. To learn more, please visit my Talks page.
You deserve to be seen and heard. Reaching out and deciding to be fully authentic in therapy takes courage, and I am excited to support you through the next chapter of your journey. Be sure to check out the Books, Sites, and Athens pages for recommended reading and additional resources. (Hyperlinks are designated in bold and/or underlined text.)
